Cristina was born in New York to an American mother and an Italian father. She grew up both in the States and in Italy, but has settled herself well in Milan. She refers to herself as bilingual and bicultural, but she gives off an impression as much more. She is a global citizen, actively engaged in playing her part for a better planet.
Cristina is the modern superwoman. She has found a way to have a blooming career as a writer, journalist and with weekly television segment focusing on sustainable lifestyles. She is also raising a family of three children with her husband, she built her home in a sustainable way, takes active role in outreach, and somehow she also finds time to nourish her spiritual side. She has her daily practices that ground her and allow her to stay in the now, and to live from the heart. To Cristina, her spiritual practices and being connected with nature give her strength, as it is not always possible to be positive about the way things are in our society.
"I believe that a critical mass, and this ferment that is occurring from below, is our only hope of evolution. I believe we need 10% of the population living from the heart and practicing sustainability joyfully in their everyday life. Then the rest of humanity will follow and evolve.
That is what I am focusing on, contributing to the 10% as much as I can"
Cristina made her shift towards sustainability as a result of an inner journey and through spirituality. And it lead to some amazing concrete changes. She diligently did her research, and applied the solutions she could adapt to her own life. And she continues to research and make changes. Measures include energy reduction in her house, removing toxins and chemicals, eating local, organic and fair, carpooling, using public transport, and the list goes on.
"Lightening up ones ecological footprint is an incredibly exciting process… it’s a creative daily practice"
These concrete actions and collection of useful solutions were her first steps. Now she is involved in researching more how systems work, and the beauty of community actions to reach a higher positive impact collectively. Cristina has managed to harvest her energy and passion for change and sustainability both in her personal life and in her work in a very complementary way.
"You discover this massive collective energy when you start looking at who is already living in a sustainable way, and it really makes me happy is to discover all these communities of people who really devote their lives towards OUR better self"
